Internal and External communications are vital for organisational growth.  However, since the Worldwide Pandemic, internal communications have never been so important. Opening a brand new £16m office in the heart of Hull’s Fruit Market, Arco were looking for a way to welcome more than 600 valued team members to the building, and The Promotion Company helped them do just that!

As referred to on Arco’s website, Arco holds the health, safety and wellbeing of their colleagues and customers with the upmost importance, and our experience with this company enforces this message strongly. This fifth-generation family- owned business which started in Hull, over the years has grown into a world leader in safety and have done that with the aid of a fantastic team behind them, they invest in their people!

Early in 2021 we were asked to look at supplying welcome packs for more than 600 team members, to be given out during Covid-secure, socially distanced inductions at Arco’s new Blackfriargate office in Hull’s Fruit Market.

Speaking with the Arco Internal Communications team, we were briefed as to what quality of products they would like, how the products should encourage good health and safety practice, enhance wellbeing, be useful, and be as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible. We were also briefed on what information could be included on the products in the packs.

Our role was to come up with the best products to fit the brief and these were presented to our client and subsequently ordered.  This is something that was planned regardless of the pandemic, but became much more relevant as the months passed, as they were chosen with the aim of supporting Arco’s colleagues to feel safe, supported, and confident when coming into a new office for the first time in a year or more.

The gifts for the teams were packaged beautifully in a Jute bag trimmed in black to complement the Arco branding, all gift tagged, all done with the upmost attention to detail.

A strong message to maintain good health is to keep hydrated and Arco also wanted to keep good Covid practices by minimising the use of shared office supplies such as mugs and glasses. As such there were two drinking vessels included.  A stainless-steel thermal mug from our executive range formed part of the pack, this would enable people to drink warm drinks safely as they had lids to avoid accidents.  These were complemented with metal water bottles, again a high-end product, but trying to consider the environment with this choice and avoiding plastic bottles.

Probably the most time was spent planning and designing the beautiful A5 casebound hardback notebooks.  Not only were they tastefully branded externally but also they included 16 pages of full colour bespoke print, full of useful information relating to the Blackfriargate building but also with regards to the wellbeing of the team.  The paper for these notebooks was sustainably sourced and the books were printed in the UK to reduce the carbon footprint.  In each of the books were recycled pens, assembled to create a bespoke pen to represent the Arco brand and colours.

Last but by no means least a finishing touch for the bags of goodies was some tiny terracotta pots with varying plants to encourage wellbeing for colleagues when working from home, ranging from a Norway Spruce to a Venus fly trap!

Whilst the new, Arco building is a stunning representation of this market leading business, it needs to be filled with a hard-working, forward thinking, collaborative team who are full of enthusiasm and determination, and that mix will make it the winning recipe for continued success. Hopefully these welcome packs will go at least in a small way towards helping them to achieve that!
