Raise Your Rainbow for Pride in Hull

/, News/Raise Your Rainbow for Pride in Hull

We are super excited about this week as Hull is hosting the first ever UK Pride to celebrate 50 years of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality.

Pride has come a long way in recent years as communities come together to celebrate who they are with friends and family. The Pride in Hull team works hard to recognise the issues experienced in the LGBT+ community and also to celebrate the work of activists.

As the UK City of Culture, Hull is hosting the event bringing Marc Almond, Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK Ambassador, Courtney Act – La Voix, girl band, B*Witched, 80’s Sonia and many more acts. The whole festival will take place in Queen’s Gardens where we will join the party raising our rainbows.

The festival is more than just one day this year with the team producing a week long program of events, so there are more opportunities to raise your rainbows for change and freedom. The Pride week kicks off with a film première and the pioneering city has been given a unique blessing from the Archbishop of York to hold a special service at Hull Minster on Friday evening.

Saturday has three elements with the Parade commencing at Wilberforce Monument through the city and terminating at the Rose Bowl and entry into Queens’s Gardens for the Pride Party. The evening concludes with a specially commissioned concert with Culture Music: Orchestra – this is a unique first for any Pride in the UK – trust Hull to get it right!

The Promotion Company is close friends with the Pride in Hull organising team from Jenko Creative, on both a business and personal level. Until we purchased our own offices, we shared space in the lovely Jenko building on Hessle Road for many years, all part of one big family. We continue to work together providing services to one another, helping our clients to get the best out of their marketing and branding – for Saturday we have supplied the colourful t-shirts to the Pride in Hull team (shown in the photo) on our special charity deal.

We know how hard Colin Wilson and Graham Jenkinson work in the run up to the annual Pride in Hull event, yet UK Pride is a much bigger event, supported by the Hull Culture team and it promises to be better than ever. The culture-packed week includes; Theatre, International Cinema, Comedy Showcase, Literary Salon and a Special Preview Screening of award-winning; God’s Own Country, filmed in Yorkshire and is receiving rave reviews.

We really hope you enjoy engaging with our products as they make the living rainbow a positive vision of inclusivity, fun and celebration.
